Screen recording of FaceTime and Zoom doesn’t play any sound even thought they were recorded with the microphone feature turned on. How do I recover the sound?

When I screen record

I click on microphone on

then I start recording

then stop

then when I see the recordings, they do not have the audio portion.

I can’t listen anything.

This happens on my iPhone 12 mini and my iPad 10.2 in

I have tried recording FaceTime calls, WhatsApp video calls, Zoom, etc

Audio doesn’t get recorded even though I explicitly turn the microphone on before clicking start recording.

How do I recover the audio on these videos I recorded?

Thanks!

Hi,

Both of those scenarios work just fine on both my iPhone and iPad.

Here the issue I am asking is of a SCREEN RECORDING MADE WITH THE MICROPHONE TURNED ON.

How do I recovered the sound on those videos?

Thanks!

Have a nice day!

Hey AlexSpeyer,

Let's use the steps below to make sure the microphones for your iPhone are working as expected:

1. Open the Camera app.
2. Record a video while speaking at the top of your iPhone.
3. Tap the camera chooser  to switch to the other camera. Then record another video while speaking at the top of your iPhone.
4. When you play back the videos, you should hear your voice clearly.

You can also find those steps in this resource: If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working

If you don't hear your voice clearly when you play the video back, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support so they can look into this further: Apple Support

Cheers!

AlexSpeyer,

The steps in the link below will show you how to record your screen.

Record the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

1. Go to Settings > Control Center, then tap the Add button  next to Screen Recording.
2. Open Control Center on your iPhone, or on your iPad.
3. Tap the gray Record button gray record icon, then wait for the three-second countown.
4. Exit Control Center to record your screen.
5. To stop recording, open Control Center, then tap the red Record button red record icon. Or tap the red status bar at the top of your screen and tap Stop.
Go to the Photos app and select your screen recording.

Please keep the following in mind when it comes to recording your screen:

Some apps might not allow you to record audio or video. You can't record your screen and use screen mirroring at the same time.

That said, if there is no audio playback after recording your screen, depending on the app, it could be expected behavior.

If you’re still experiencing the same issue, we recommend that you contact Apple Support for more help.
