You Can't What you are looking to perform is not an option for your iPhone model (6s Plus).

For future reference...

How to do so...

A. Verify Compatibility:

Identify your iPhone model. The first thing that comes to mind in incompatibility being the culprit. So, confirm the model of your iPhone. If iPhone model is incompatible with iOS 16then it is because you iPhone does not meet the hardware requirements for this iOS version(s).

My I phone update please

iPhone 7, iPhone 6s, and earlier are not supported on iOS 16 and later.

If you have an app that requires iOS 16 or later, you will need a newer (used, refurb) or new iPhone.

Any recent iPhone will be substantially more capable than an iPhone 6s, as well.

If you happen to have an iPhone 8 or newer, iOS 16 is an option, and here is how to update to a more current iOS:

Hello and welcome to the thread.

You have an iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus, and wish to update to iOS 16 or iOS 17.

Nope. Not supported.

iOS 15 is the end of the line for iPhone 6S and iPhone 6 Plus; to iOS 15.8.2, currently.

For iOS 16, you’ll need a newer (used, refurb) or new iPhone; an iPhone 8 or newer.

For iOS 17, you’ll need iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone SE 2nd gen, or later.

Any recent iPhone will be substantially more capable than this iPhone, as well.

Hello and welcome to the thread.

What you are asking for is not supported, and is not available.

iPhone 6 Plus is supported through iOS 12, and no further.

iOS 16? You can’t get there from iPhone 6 Plus.

A newer (used, refurb) or new iPhone is required for iOS 16.

iPhone SE 2nd, XR, XS, or newer is required for the current iOS 17.

Replace it. An iPhone 6s can’t get to iOS 16.

Piling onto this or any other thread is exceedingly unlikely to cause Apple to reconsider their decision, as any reconsideration here would open floodgates to the same request for every other iPhone model and for every other deprecation, whether past, present, or future.

And were any extension or special dispensation granted, the results would also undoubtedly incur innumerable complaints about the lack of performance or the lack of features of the newer iOS releases on the older and inadequate hardware.

You're somewhat less unlikely to convince a third-party app developer to provide longer app support, if there's enough revenue for them to extend that support. Various app developers will support the three most recent iOS versions, and some will support older iOS versions.

What to do here? Acquire less-old iPhone model which can get to iOS 16, or preferably to iOS 17.

If you're running iOS 15 on an "iPhone 6", you have an iPhone 6s – not an iPhone 6. For the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, iOS 12.* is the end of the line. Just clarifying because there are other threads – including one 30+ page one – in which iPhone 6 users keep asking over and over how to install iOS 13.4, or 14, or 15, long after the answers to the threads make obvious that there are no such updates for the iPhone 6 (no "s").

An iPhone 6s can update as far as the latest release of iOS 15. But it can't run iOS 16 or higher. Sorry.
