I am getting the message The mail server mail.btinternet.com is not responding... verify that you have entered correct settings... I don't know what they are... there is no server details etc
You would need to contact BT for their mail settings.
Then go to your your account on your iPhone in Settings ➜ Mail ➜ Accounts ➜ [Your BT account] and verify the settings are correct there .

Thank you. I ended up contacting Apple support who managed to resolve the problem. My internet provider had said the issue was with Apple. Apparently they had experienced a number of calls. Thank you for your reply
