Mail in inbox after a certain date is deleted. How to control that?

on my MacBook Pro MacOS Catalina My email messages in my inbox seem to be automatically deleted after 2 weeks, whether I viewed them or not. The same is happening on my IPAD mail.

What can be done to stop this behavior? I want to manually control what gets deleted.

Thanks

That behavior is usually determined by the email service provider's settings, which you may or may not be able to change. Investigate those settings on your Mac by following Change Mailbox Behaviors preferences in Mail on Mac - Apple Support.

Excerpt:

"Mail erases deleted messages at the specified time. Select a setting other than Never to avoid exceeding storage limits set by your email account provider."
