Folder location not found in email attachments

I am a artist and I mail photos back and forth between email account because some apps I use on my iPad won’t find or access my downloads folder on my iPad ,in any of my apps except Procreate. So my issue is this. I open mail, I click on attachments, the tool bar pops up on the left , but my downloads folder is not there , nor can I navigate to iy through any other folders listed on the left, . I been trying everything for a week. I need to be able to navigate to my downloads folder to attach pictures to my messages in email. Why does my download folder not appear on the left . Why can I not access it ??? Super frustrated !!

Hi Nimoner,

To make sure we're on the same page, it sounds like you see several folder options when you try attaching a photo, but not the one that you personally created, correct? Are you able to access the photos in question from the All Photos or Recents folders? Knowing if this works will help in narrowing things down.

Also, which iPadOS version are you using under Settings > General > About? It could help to back up and update if you haven't yet updated to iPadOS 16.6: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Let us know if that helps. Have a good one.

Hi Nimoner,

Just to be sure you're following the correct steps to send an email with an attachment, verify that these are the steps you're following: Add email attachments in Mail on iPad.

"Attach a photo, video, or document to an email

You can attach and send documents, videos, and photos in your emails for recipients to easily download and save.

  1. Tap in the email where you want to insert the attachment, then do one of the following:
  • Attach a document: Tap the Insert Attachment button above the keyboard, then locate the document in Files.
    • In Files, tap Browse or Recent, then tap a file, location, or folder to open it.
    • Attach a saved photo or video: Tap the Insert Photo or Video Actions button above the keyboard, tap Photo Library, then choose a photo or video. Tap the Close Button to return to the email.
    • Take a new photo or video and attach it to the email: Tap the Insert Photo or Video Actions button above the keyboard, tap Take Photo or Video, then take a new photo or video. Tap Use Photo or Use Video to insert it into your email, or tap Retake if you want to reshoot it."

If those are the steps you're following, reply with the answers to these questions for more help:

  • Does this happen with one specific email account or multiple?
  • Do you notice this behavior with photos that came from a specific source, or does it happen with all photos?

Regards.

Yes that is correct .. I click on the Camera , pick/add photo from library , then I click All Photos , then the long left menu pops up , has folders Recents , Shared , ect .. but no matter what folder I click on it will not let me navigate to a personal folder I have made called Downloads … Is there something I’m missing ? I’m not familiar with Mac very much but in Windoes you can just navigate through C: drive to any folder on the device , as well as Samsung lets you navigate to any folder as well .. but also when I use my Stencil maker app , it also will not let me navigate to my downloads folder to get a image. Procreate gives me the full menu and options I can navigate through procreatewhen adding images or inserting , as well as when I save images it will allow me to navigate to save them in the folders I’ve made. Any help welcome please !!!!!
