Automatically forward texts to your other devices

iPhone 11, I want to forward texts to another phone number. This number is set up as a trusted number under settings/my name reachable at...

Under Setup/Messages there is no option for Text Message Forwarding. I have alrady tried to Tap Send & Receive, tap Use Your Apple ID for iMessage, then sign in with the same Apple ID used on your other devices, but no joy.

I need to forward my text to another number automatically

Bothe devices need to be on the same Apple ID.

  1. Set up text message forwarding
    1. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. On your Mac, open Messages, choose Messages > Preferences, then click iMessage. Make sure that you're signed in to iMessage with the same Apple ID on all your devices.
    2. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding.*
    3. Choose which devices can send and receive text messages from your iPhone. If you're not using two-factor authentication for your Apple ID, a verification code appears on each of your other devices: enter that code on your iPhone.

In case you are still having this problem!! I have no idea why everyone that tries to help with this just copies and pastes without knowing much about the problem, but here was my solution: On your iphone, in settings, go to messages. Then go to Send & Receive. If your problem is the same as mine, then you should see an option to send and receive using your phone number, and then another option that says something like “Sign in to AppleID”. My iPad had the option to send and receive from my phone number and my AppleID’s email. This must be the same for your phone. Log into that part in send and receive with your AppleID. You should see on your iPad that the device is now registered for iMessage. From there, you will be able to go back into your messages settings and see “Text Message Forwarding”. Make sure you turn on the device(s) that you want to use in iMessage. I am not sure why this is necessary to get everything to work, but once you've done it, you can go back into “Send & Receive” in both devices and set your phone number as the only one sending and receiving texts. I really hope this works for you and anyone that reads this.
