How do I set up SMS forwarding on an iPhone 15?

my work bought an iphone 15 so i can use an eSim for both my number and work number. We researched the ability to forward SMS to another work phone on certain days. But when i set up the phone the option isnt there. The apple support says it was removed on ios 17.5. We cant use same apple ID.

Is there away around this, or an app that anyone can suggest?

You would need to contact the cellular service provider for the work number to set up the scheduled forwarding.

There is no way to forward text messages and calls on certain days from within the iPhone itself.

Continuity as suggested in a previous reply will only let you forward calls and messages to other devices that are logged in with the same Apple ID, and offers no scheduling options for that. Its on or off.

Incorrect. The iPhone will forward SMS messages to other Apple devices as explained in the Continuity page under "Text Message Forwarding".

they removed the feature, from what i've been told by apple support

They are mistaken. The feature exists and works, but again, only between Apple devices logged in with the same Apple ID.

It has never existed to forward to Android phones.

Apple has not removed anything. It works the way it has always worked.

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately the feature has been removed on ios 17 and later, it literally is not there, and unfortunately we cant put my apple ID and works apple ID on the same phone, so I cant use it that way.

I used to use an app on the old android phone to forward SMS to my colleagues phone but doesn't look like apple have an equivalent app.

I'm not running iOS 17 – but this may be connected to another control: "iMessages in iCloud."

I helped someone whose messages seemed to be getting forwarded just fine, but who did not have the SMS/MMS forwarding control in their iPhone's Settings. That person had "iMessages in iCloud" turned on, and, I believe was running iOS 17 on her iPhone …

It could be that enabling "iMessages in iCloud" also enables SMS/MMS message forwarding. Maybe the separate SMS/MMS forwarding control was removed entirely, or is being hidden when "iMessages in iCloud" is on, because someone considered it to be redundant?
