New iMac magic keyboard is generating incorrect letters and symbols

That normally means you have the wrong input source active. If you tell us exactly what is wrong, we can tell you which one you have activated by mistake. In any case, go to system settings > keyboard > text input > input source > edit and tell us what is on the list.

Have you tried a wired keyboard?

Are you in the US?
