Screen record missed from iMac

Hello, I’ve recorded my screen for at least 2 hours, then I stopped it and I’ve got window with my screen recording, then I’ve tried to share it with airdrop to my phone, but airdrop failed and window with my recording closed and I can’t find it. I’ve searched in quick time player auto save, in timed folders in latest files, I also use programme which search deleted files but a still can’t find it…

first, to try and locate your screen recording, you can use the keyboard shortcut "shift-command-5" to bring up the recording controls. then choose "options".

and then, in those options, check the "save to" location to see where the recording went.

but I need to ask, when you opened the recording to share it, did you interact with the "floating thumbnail"? meaning, did you open the recording from the lower right of your screen? or was it at the top right of the screen?

if it was at the lower right, that may be why it appears to have disappeared. sometimes if you interact with the "floating thumbnail", then once you close the recording, I have seen it more than a few times that the recording will be lost. that is why I personally always leave "show floating thumbnail" (found in recording options) disabled.
