Can I use Google Pay without activating my passcode and Face ID on the iPhone 14 pro

I am unable to use Google Pay because it demands to set up a passcode which I do not want to set. I also do not want to set the passcode or Face ID for operating the Apple iPhone 14 pro

Apparently not.

Allowing that would be an incredibly bad idea as anyone who managed to get hold of your phone could spend you dry.
