Just trying to settle a debate, someone says only an iPhones Bluetooth will ping an airtag. I know you cant track it on Android, but I believe the Bluetooth will locate it for me so I can locate it.
It's important to understand how the AirTag works. It acts a bit like a Bluetooth beacon that sends out its location data every 5-10 mins. It does this interval to save battery life. Any device that supports Bluetooth can receive this beacon. However, only devices that can participate on the Apple Find My Network, can relay that data to the Apple servers. That, presently, are only iPhones ... with Find My Network & Bluetooth enabled on it.
On the other hand, an Android phone can receive this Bluetooth signal if nearby AND the AirTag is travelling along with it, to notify the phone's user of its presence.

Although the AirTag broadcasts its location, via Bluetooth, it relies on Apple's "Find My Network" which is only available on iPhones.
I feel like my question isn’t understood…it can use Android Bluetooth correct? It can only be tracked on the FindMy app that it’s paired to. But, ANY Bluetooth with ping it?
Can any Bluetooth ping an AirTag or does it have to be iPhone?
