Why does iOS hide notification settings?

Many apps appear to only allow you access to this setting when they're first being installed. If you want to change it after that, apparently the Apple way is to delete the app, wait a day, then reinstall it. How elegant. Who thought this was a good idea? It's not even documented, you have to dig this information out of the internet yourself. Even Apple's own apps will gaslight you into thinking you're somehow losing your mind by asking you if you want to enable notifications, pop up a helpful Settings icon that will open the place where the setting should be, and it's just not there. Just happened on the Weather app for me, but this happens all the time. Why Apple, why?

Another area to check when wanting to change notification settings for a particular app is to go to Settings>Notifications, then select the app in question. Understand that how an app acts about many settings has to do with how the app developer designs the app, it isn't up to Apple. Many apps have their own settings icon that can also be buried in their own menu system.

Since you mention the Apple Weather app, what notification setting are you trying to change? Maybe we can help.

Re" Generally, most iOS app settings appear within Settings -> [App]"

Yes, that's exactly where they should be, but almost every time an app suggests I enable Notifications, the option is just not there. It's beyond infuriating.

I've had an iPhone since the first one came out, if there's a rational reason for this behavior I somehow missed it. I've never heard anyone complain about the amount of options in the Settings dialogue. I hope they fix this someday.

I appreciate your taking time to replay to my rant. Cheers!
