I have a standalone Apple Watch and need to adjust notifications. How do I do that?

Most forms and answers online about Apple Watch notifications are for Apple watches that are working with an iPhone. I have an Apple Watch for my daughter that is standalone. It is connected to my phone through family devices, but the watch is standalone. When I go into settings, the notifications option is not present. When I try to text my daughters Apple Watch, it always says that notifications are silence. I would like to change this, but don’t know how.

We understand you're seeing that notifications are being silenced on your daughter's Apple Watch and you're trying to correct this. We'd be happy to provide information about what is happening and how to change it.

Your daughter may have accidentally enabled Focus. It is not necessary to have an iPhone to enable or disable this on Apple Watch. Use the steps here to disable it: Use Focus on Apple Watch - Apple Support

Focus stops notifications from ringing on the Apple Watch, such as when at work or sleeping.

An alert appears in Messages for the sender indicating that notifications are being silenced.
