Blocked mail not going to trash – still...

I asked a question a while ago but think it was locked so I'm repeating it again here in case anyone can help:

I know someone already posted this in April 2022 but I am still having the same issue. When I set blocked mail to go straight to the trash it's not. Does anyone know if Apple have fixed this and how I can set it up? Original thread is here Blocked Mail not going to Trash - Apple Community

I think @leroydouglas replied and asked if I was on Ventura 13.2

I'm on the latest OS, 13.5 and this has been happening on each OS update for some time. Apple Support can't seem to get to the bottom of it either...

Thanks

If you set up a mail rule to move certain mail to the trash on iCloud using Safari, the mail is moved to the trash folder on all devices. If you set up the same rule to move mail to the trash in the Mail App, it is not moved to the trash on any of your devices and instead goes into the junk mail folder. This is not just misleading, it's inconsistent and seems like a bug to me.

me too

and the idea that we have to trash all junk mail is interesting when we instruct to trash BLOCKED mail --- but .... I am finding the rules for movement of incoming materials is much too often diverting it to Junk box ... so I am to do what ??? trash the things I do NOT want in Junk just because the mail app is not obeying ANY orders given it ??? nonsense

after 30 years this is truly mystifying how Apple does not see this as a "red alert" to fix long ago --- it interferes with a lot of things ..... when junk becomes the dumping ground for things, and when we cannot delete already decided as BLOCKED stuff --- we are overloaded with work to keep a simple automatic system useful ......

as they say --- that's not our job ..... so Apple, please get to work

no more silly answers that are NOT AT ALL answers .... thank you people

For over a year now, every email from the Canadian Wildlife Federation, ends up the 'Junk' folder.

Looking at the default headers of the message.

' X-Dmarc-Info: pass=fail; dmarc-policy=quarantine; s=r0; d=r0; pdomain=cwf-fcf.org

X-Arc-Info: policy=fail; arc=none

and

'X-Apple-Movetofolder: Junk'.

No matter what I've done from the beginning, and I've tried some of the suggested fixes numerous times, Apple continues to send every message from the Canadian Wildlife Federation, to the 'Junk' folder.

I've tried rectifying the problem with both the 'Mail' program, and while logged into my webmail account.

I actually made a post on here when this started, but none of the replies were helpful.

I'm now having legit email that previously would always end up in the 'Inbox' folder, end up in the 'Junk' folder.

This has become quite bothersome.

I just hope that any important messages, doesn't completely disappear before I get the chance to read it.

Just so people understand why this is important. I get well over one hundred junk emails per day to my oldest Apple email address which dates back to the first day of mac.com. I don't want to stop using that email because it's just my firstname@mac.com. Since 90% of the junk mail is from blocked senders, it would make my life easier if they all went to the trash, just like Mail says they will. This would leave only the unblocked mails in Junk to check before deleting. Oh well, I've been hoping they would fix this for years and I am aware of ALL the work-arounds suggested, but they just need to fix the underlying problem.

I am puzzled by how this works for you. From your description it sounds like you are sending all of your email straight to trash.

I also have a very old address that originated from the first day of mac.com, and it is now overflowing with spam, much of which comes from super-spammers that should be blocked at Apple's servers. These mails are marked as junk and are routed to that folder, but blocking the address and selecting move blocked addresses to trash simply does not work. They stay in my junk folder, burying mail routed there that should not be.

In fact even creating rules to move the spam emails by each, specific address does not work except for the first time I add the spammer's address to the rule, and it asks if I want to run this rule now. After that, the rule never runs again until I add another address to the rule. Once upon a time, this actually worked. Now it doesn't.

I wonder if anyone has spoken to Apple Support about this.
