My Airpods show up in the bluetooth tab but when I try to connect to them it loads for what seems to be an eternity. When I try to forget the Airpods they refuse to disappear and seem to be ghosted. I've tried reseting the Airpods but that just puts the Airpods in a state where they are continuously trying to connect to a new device despite still showing up on the bluetooth tab.

Thanks for the help. However when I tried what you sent and when I looked in https://www.icloud.com/find/ and the Find My app on the Mac, the Airpods weren't even showing up for me to remove yet they were still in the bluetooth tab.
