I can see different devices in the AirDrop of my MacBook Pro and sent different files. However, it cannot receive any files. Please advise.

Hey!

There are several possible reasons why you can’t receive files via AirDrop on your MacBook Pro. Here are some suggestions:

  • Make sure the receiving mode of AirDrop is set to Everyone or Contacts Only.
  • Make sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled on your Mac and on the sending device .
  • Make sure you don’t have a Personal Hotspot connected. You can’t use AirDrop if you have a Personal Hotspot connected.
  • Try receiving different file types separately. When you receive a file via AirDrop, it opens immediately in the relevant app. This can cause problems if you try to receive multiple file types at the same time.
  • Try limiting the strictness of your Mac’s firewall. On your Mac, click the Apple symbol in the menu bar, then choose System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall > Firewall Options. Uncheck the box Block all incoming connections.
