Gmail Authentication Failed with mac mail on MacBook pro

Hello, my gmail stopped working on mac mail (MacBook pro Ventura 13.5). I deleted the account and now I keep getting a "Failed to authenticate with Google" message when trying to add it as a new account. I've researched and tried everything I can find online. I'm using Safari as the browser. There is no "Less Secure Apps" setting on Google anymore - so nothing to turn off. Started in safe mode and tried added gmail there - still won't work. I don't have any virus software to turn off. What else can I try? Thank you.

*Could it have anything to do with my internet provider? I was using a different provider all last week and now that I'm home and on Spectrum - it stopped working. I tried adding using my hotspot and still get the same error, but just tossing that extra info out there.
