iWatch Shows Inaccurate Laps and Distance in 10 Yard Long Backyard Pool

I don’t know if my new iWatch suffers from the same issue as the Samsung watches that I’ve used previously. But the iWatch too seems to be unable to track laps and distance in my relatively short backyard pool. Even though the parameters do allow setting the pool length to the correct 10 yards, the watch displays only 4 laps after I have completed 100 laps and the distance shows a ridiculous 44 yards when obviously the distance it should have tracked and displayed is 1,000 yards.

Is this a known issue for such short pools? Is there any good reason that it couldn’t be at least somewhat accurate? Is there something of which I need to be aware to make the watch render a reasonable estimate?

Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks. Dave

Thank you Mike. I appreciate your input. I did review that each of the steps in your link had been done. So, the inaccuracy isn’t due to any setting that had been overlooked. Incidentally this is a new discussion thread because an older one on the same topic required me to « Start a New Discussion » as the previous one had apparently gone stale with no activity. But in that other thread, I found several suggestions. One was to « Push strongly off the wall. So, today I tried it. The iWatch recorded more laps than before, buy deliberately shoving off from the wall followed by a strong arm stroke with the arm that held the iWatch. Also, I tried turning faster and swimming faster than before. The iWatch registered 11 laps out of the 100 actual laps. This is a little better, but still wildly unacceptable. The hunt for an answer continues…

One of the suggestions given from a plethora of community members within the separate previous discussion thread that I mentioned above was to use the 30 minutes of one-on-one online support time that comes with an Apple iWatch purchase. I guess that will be my next step. But quite frankly, the most efficient method would have been for the Apple programmer(s) who created and hopefully support the Pool Swim app, should occasionally review and answer the user community’s questions. Then if there is an issue with usage in relatively small pools, that should be advertised and readily available to iWatch owners.
