How to disable Security Lockout?

Recently my phone often get itself into lockout where I can’t use my phone for hours.

i have it happen where I had some screen issue where the screen would occasionally register click I didn’t make. I also had this problem just carrying my pho e in my pocket.

I need a passcode to discourage my kids from using my phone without permissions.

Having my phone locked out randomly is a huge security problem for me and my family as it means I can’t reliably communicate with them. It could also deny me entry to some event when my ticket is on my phone. It may prevent me from using map and find my friend feature that I may rely on to find my way or find family member I am trying to pick up.

When I bought my phone this “feature” didn’t exist so forcing it on me without a way to disable it is a bait and switch.

how do I prevent my phone from going into lockout mode?

I don’t think you read my message at all…

I am already using faceid. The problem isn’t that I forget my passcode, the problem is that while the phone is in my pocket, it may register touch as attempt to guess the passcode resulting in lockout.

i do not wish to remove passcode (this is a good feature), I wish to disable lockout (which for many user is a terrible feature).

Keep it away from your kids.

Try using Face ID instead. How to set up and use Face ID is described in this support article --> Use Face ID on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support

This won't work if they are doing this deliberately by bypassing FaceID and entering a passcode instead.

To turn off requiring a passcode, do the opposite of turning it on, as outlined in:

Use a passcode with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

However, note what it says about some things requiring a passcode be used.
