Anker 3-in-1 Cube with MagSafe charger heat issue

I purchased (through Apple) and have been using the Anker 3-in-1 Cube with MagSafe charger and am having heat buildup/dissipation issues. All three charging surfaces on this cube get very warm during and after the charging completes (i.e., at 100% charge level.) Using an infrared thermometer, I measured each charging surface before and after and they were about 20 degrees F warmer. I am using the following compatible Apple products on this charger:

  • iPhone 14 Pro
  • Apple Watch Series 6
  • AirPods 3

Note that I initially tried the Belkin 3-in-1 charger (purchased through Apple) and had the same heat issue so am thinking this may be typical for these type of chargers and possibly a particular set and/or number of devices. I understand that MagSafe can get a bit warm (2nd law of thermo and all), but this seems excessively warm. And as expected, charging any of those three devices via their includes Apple cables do not lead to head buildup/dissipation. Lastly, I did chat with a Genius Bar support rep at the Apple Store and he didn't believe this was normal, but the Anker Support rep I spoke with stated it was. The Genius Bar support rep also tested my AirPods 3 and confirmed there were no issues and charged them for several minutes on an Apple MagSafe charger at the store and there was almost no heat buildup/dissipation.

My questions:

  1. Anyone else having this type of heat buildup/dissipation issue with this charger?
  2. Is it typical for these type of chargers (i.e., 3-in-1) to get very warm during and after the charging completes (i.e., reaches 100%)? If so, it would be nice to know the max temperature these should reach.
  3. Besides taking these off the charger or using the charging optimization setting (which does not seem to make a difference), any other advice?
  4. Would this heat cause any kind of damage to my Apple devices in the long term?

According to Anker, this charger has only been out for a couple years, so maybe more testing is needed.

Heat + electronics = No bueno... so may just return this thing... still, would like to know what peeps who have experience with this issue think. Thanks in advance.
