"Google Password Required"...

I've made some changes in my passwords, including some of my Gmail accounts. I'm getting all my emails ok, both to my iMac and my iPhone. All's working OK.

But now every day, more than once, I'm getting this message on the top right of my screen (see below), and then, when clicking "Continue" I'm getting the other message, that brings me nowhere.


I know I can always call Google, but I don't see a reason to spend hours on the phone, waiting for them to answer...


...Is there a way to stop this nonsense by myself?

Mac's Mail App is not as modern as iOS's Mail app, Many eMail providers now require a separate App Password different from your eMail password…

If it's an IMAP account, delete it in Sys Prefs Internet Accounts then use "Other" instead of gMail choice to add it.

Most likely biggest factor is using Other in Mail setup, then using a Browser that doesn’t have gMail PW stored init to get the App PW.


It might just need an App Password separate from the gMail password…
