I have had my Apple Pencil for about 3 years, I used it on my old iPad until i got a new one for Christmas, It’s a purple IPad Air, I tried connecting it to my new iPad but it didn’t work so I bought a type c adapter and it arrived today, I plugged one end of my charger into my iPad and one end into the pencil, after a few seconds it said that “accessory not supported”. Please help me solve this.

You are very welcome. While obviously disappointing to learn that your existing Apple Pencil is not compatible with your new iPad Air, you have at least identified the cause of your difficulty.
