apple pencil 1st gen adapter not working with ipad 10

I purchased the iPad 10 along with Apple Pencil first generation this afternoon.

much to my frustration the Apple Pencil was not recognised on my iPad through the usb-c adaptor that came with the pencil.

I have been in touch with Apple support who also deemed that the adaptor could possibly be faulty and agreed to send me a replacement. (After various troubleshooting and eliminating other possible issues) But during my YouTube search on reviews on iPad 10, I noticed that they also mentioned the faulty adaptor when connecting to the Apple Pencil.

wondering if others have also faced a similar issue recently?

The standard adapter that has shipped with the 1st gen Apple Pencil is a Lightning to Lightning connector.

This adapter will not work with the new 10th gen iPad.

You need to purchase Apple's new $9 U.S.D. USB-c to Lightning adapter found here.

Same… and I have gone a slightly different route. USB-C (male) to lighting cord (male) to adapter piece (double sided lightening female) to the Apple Pencil. So instead of the adapter that you have if that makes sense. So either the set up doesn’t work or my iPad hasn’t recognized both the pencils I’ve tried.

Right. I know the standard wouldn’t work. However, what is the difference between the adapter and plugging in a USB-C into the ipad that connects to the standard adapter and then plugging in the Apple Pencil into it?

ipad > USB-C male > lightening cable make > adapter > Apple Pencil

Should be the same exact connectivity route but with the cable as the intermediary as opposed to the all in one USB-C adapter. Unless I’m missing something.
