2020 iMac 27 Shuts Itself Down Randomly

After upgrading my iMac to 128MB RAM, it began to shut down randonly. I worked extensively with an Apple technical support guy to try and figure the problem out. In the end, we were able to rule out a software issue, so I assume there's a hardware problem. I have seen a couple of earlier posts regarding this issue, but it was recommended that I reask my question. I have an EtreCheckPro diagnostic report that shows that the iMac does not show any major or minor issues. However, the problem persists.


Here are the specs on my iMac:


Processor 3.1 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5

Graphics AMD Radeon Pro 5300 4GB

Memory

128 GB 2667 MHZ

DDR4

Startup disk MACHD

macOS Ventura 13.4.1 (c)


Thanx, in advance for any assistance you might be able to provide. Otherwise, I will be left with a $1600 paperweight.

You have an iMac 27" (5k, 2020) model.


You should post the complete EtreCheck report here so we have examine it for clues.


Make sure to disconnect all external devices in case one of them is causing a problem.


Unless you had problems earlier, then most likely the RAM upgrade is the source of the problem. Macs are very picky about the memory they use which is why most regular contributors on these forums will only recommend using memory from Crucial or OWC. In fact even when purchasing memory from these two vendors, you must only use the exact part numbers recommended to be compatible by using the tools on their respective websites....that is how picky Macs are with memory.
