I cannot close Grammarly in order to delete it, Help Please

As soon as I made allowed it on my Mac it felt invasive and I just didn't like it so have never given it permission to function. However it constantly messages me and I just want it gone. I can find it in applications. It is on my top of screen menu and pops up every time I open settings. I have looked at heaps of articles but they don't work because I cannot close it or drag it to trash etc. I really dislike this app now

Any ideas - can i force it to close somehow and then get rid of it. I cannot find it working anywhere so I don't know what part is open or being used. Thanks for your help

I had this problem this evening after downloading Grammarly for Desktop on my mac mini. I tried everything like force quitting, dragging to trash and like someone else mentioned, I think I was just deleting the shortcut. Anyways, I tried what a few others mentioned and went to the Activity Monitor and force-quit anything that had Grammarly in the process name within the Memory tab, and once I did that I went back to Applications, drug it to the trash bin and it was removed. So that definitely should, and hopefully will, work.

Success... I used the Activities Monitor and Forced Quit all of the Grammarly app activities that were running - in this case there were two. Then really really really quickly I sent the Grammarly app from the applications folder into the trash before it could start up again. Have to work really fast though, or it will start up again on you.

At first I kept forcing the quit in the Activities Monitor, only to have it start up again - like a zombie returning from the dead!!

But if you get it into the trash fast enough it will stay dead. Whew! be sure to empty the trash... or god knows where it might turn up next.

the Grammarly support site has this procedure:

  1. Click on the Grammarly button in the menu bar and select Quit
  2. Go to Finder > Applications.
  3. Find Grammarly for Mac on the list and move it to Trash (or Bin).

https://support.grammarly.com/hc/en-us/articles/4412832963469-How-to-uninstall-Grammarly-for-Windows-or-Grammarly-for-Mac

it says Move to Trash, but remember you may not be Able to Empty Trash until after Restart.
