Unable to uninstall Grammarly on Mac with macOS Monterey?

I've tried uninstalling Grammarly from my Mac and it says that I can't delete the App because it's being used. I've shut down every App on my computer and even restarted it. Grammarly still does not uninstall. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble uninstalling Grammarly. It's frustrating when something doesn't work as it should. Try following these steps:

1. Quit Grammarly: You can do this by going to the menu bar at the top of the screen, clicking on the Grammarly icon, and selecting 'Quit Grammarly.' Make sure it's completely closed.

2. If Grammarly is still running in the background, you may need to force quit it. Open "Activity Monitor" from the Utilities folder in Applications, or use Spotlight Search to find it. Search for "Grammarly" in Activity Monitor, select it, then click on the 'X' at the top-left corner to force it to quit.

3. Now, you should be able to drag the Grammarly app to the trash bin, just like uninstalling any other application.

4. Also, remember to remove the Grammarly extension from your web browsers. Each browser has a different process to manage extensions, so make sure to check for each one you've installed Grammarly on.

5. Once you've done all that, empty your trash.

6. Restart your Mac.

This process should remove Grammarly from your Mac.

I had this problem too. You need to open the apps you have grammarly active on (for me it was microsoft word) then click the little green grammarly icon that appears at the bottom on you document. Then double click and click quit. You might have to do this in multiple places such as messages or notes if you have it enabled there. Then when you go to your finder and click applications you should be able to delete the app.

Use the search spotlight to access the activity monitor. There you can find grammarly, double click it and then force quit. then go back to finder and you should be able to move it to the trash bin. worked for me, nothing on apple forums was really helpful but i found this on reddit

Grammarly has a icon on the menu extras menu bar. When you click the icon, there is a Quit selection. Do that. Then see if you can remove the application. The Grammarly Desktop application is a separate entity from the Grammarly Extension for Safari, if you also installed that.
