M2 MacBook Pro screen crack for no apparent reason

Similar to M1 MacBook Air screen cracking reports during normal use or overnight, without any apparent reason, my MacBook M2 pro screen suffered same. My mac is not even completely one year old, it was working perfectly before I went to sleep last night and when I woke up there was a crack on left side of the mac, after a few hours when I saw it again the crack became bigger and the whole display was black, before it was atleast working half side normally but then it wasn’t at all. I closed it properly, I did not damage it I’m any ways, it didn’t move the whole night. The mac from outside shows no damages on the screen but when switched on the screen display shows white lines and black screen. This had a already happened with over 3600 users and discussions have taken place in “MacBook air M1 screen crack for no apparent reason”, same has happened with me but now I’m M2 and MacBook Pro. The images attached below shows the spread of the crack. I can say with 100% confidence that it has not been physically damaged.

in the space of 4-6 months, i have seen my 2023 16inch MacBook Pro $4000 M1 chip - crack at the bottom right edge and in a matter of days the screen went from lines to black.

followed by my daughters MacBook Pro and Mac book air… all cracked while carrying out normal tasks - no damage or poor handling, just simply opening the lid is enough!

this is a major flaw and needs to be recalled

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration upon discovering that the screen of my MacBook has cracked.

I must emphasize that this damage has occurred without any fault or mishandling on my part. I have always taken great care of my device, ensuring it is stored safely and handled with utmost caution. It was devastating to realize that despite my diligence, such an issue has arisen.

Given the premium quality and reputation associated with Apple products, I had expected a higher level of durability and reliability. Discovering this damage has not only inconvenienced me greatly but has also shaken my confidence in the reliability of Apple products.

I kindly request a prompt resolution to this matter, whether it be a repair or replacement of the damaged screen, at no cost to me. As a loyal customer who has always valued and trusted Apple products, I hope for a satisfactory resolution that restores my faith in the brand.

I have attached relevant documentation and photographs detailing the condition of the MacBook screen for your reference.

Interesting theory. My 2023 M2 14-inch Macbook pro has this issue now. I bought this Macbook April 30-May 1st 2023.

I updated to sonoma (14.4.1) around march 25th 2024 and then May 2nd this happened to my screen.

I was working on my laptop, closed it like normal, left my house to go to get a coffee, came back, and opened my laptop and turned it on, and the screen was like this. Absolutely nothing physical happened to it yet Apple support says it's probably physical damage and I need to go in-store to have them look at it. There's a crack on the screen now but it's not on the surface. It appears to be underneath somewhere.

I don't use the 'moving screensaver function' so I have no idea why this happened. Maybe the update itself (sonoma 14.4.1 is causing it to crack somehow?)

What I am adding to is the mounting evidence of an issue with this screen I am also hopeful that someone will tell me if they have had a resolution from a Genius Bar that didn't involve them paying for a flawed product

We are just a user-to-user forum. We don't do physical damage repairs. We are not Apple here. When you send the device to an authorised service, they'd see your device and make an assessment. If you don't agree with their assessment, you can complain further above until you get a definite answer.
