Anytime I have to eject my hard drive I have to force eject. How can I safely eject my hard drive without force ejecting? I've tried relaunching finder and quitting all other applications but that doesn't seem to work. I have a2015 MacBook Pro and version 10.15.2.

Force eject does not work on 2017 iMac running macOS Ventura iMac 27inch 2017 model running Ventura recently updated. Force eject does not work. when closing iMac down some disk drives will not eject and this message comes "the diskT7 wasn't ejected because one or more programs may be using it" and force eject does not work [Edited by Moderator]

Disk Not Ejected Properly New MacBook Air w/Ventura 13.4 and external LaCie hard drive for Time Machine. When awakened from sleep 8 or more notifications appear saying: Disk Not Ejected Properly Eject "LaCie" before disconnecting or turning it off. This happens every time whether or not I have ejected the LaCie hard drive. Apple support absolutely no help. They act like they never heard of this issue despite the fact that the forums are full of people with the same issue. This never happened with old MacBook Pro and earlier operating systems. Why hasn't Apple addressed this? Any idea what might be going on?

It's complaining that the disk was NOT ejected properly.

This could happen for several reasons:

User error. You unplugged or turned off an external drive without putting it away (unmounting / ejecting it) first.
A power failure or system crash.
Some glitch (other than #1 or #2) that caused an external drive to become disconnected.

If you have ruled out #1 and #2, and you are seeing intermittent disconnections of drives, this could be related to letting the computer (go to sleep / put drives to sleep).
