when i downloaded my music to my ipod it gives me an error when i try to play the say it says Item not avaiable

We think that the best course of action here would be to remove the songs that you synced and try syncing them over once again. I am having the same problem but it wont let me listen to music that has been downloaded for years. It says i need to connect to ITunes. I dont even know how to do that on my ipod and Ive even tried music that is not downloaded from I tunes.
