Why do you think my hand hurts after using my iphone?

I purchased my new Iphone 4 months ago, and since then, I have been experiencing hand pain, numbness, and tingling. This pain does goes away when I stop using my phone for an extended period of time. This pain only occurs while I actively use the phone and a few minutes afterward. I have assessed all other possible causes and concluded that it is directly related to the use of my iPhone. I have used Apple products since 2015 and have never had this issue. I believe this problem is directly related to the radiation that is emitted from the newer iPhones and its network connection to 5G. Previously I was using an Iphone 11 that never connected to 5G, I am not sure if its processor has the capability to access 5G network but ultimately since I have upgraded I have been experiencing this pain. This discomfort has negatively impacted my life in many ways and I am strongly considering to stop using Apple products.

I'm not a medical professional, but I can provide some general information about the symptoms you're describing. Experiencing hand pain, numbness, and tingling while using a device like an iPhone could potentially be related to a condition known as "smartphone hand" or "texting thumb," which falls under the broader category of repetitive strain injuries (RSIs) or overuse injuries. It's important to consult a medical professional, such as a neurologist, to get an accurate diagnosis and proper guidance based on your specific situation.

Here's a bit more information that might be helpful:

  1. Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSIs): RSIs are injuries that result from repetitive motions and overuse of certain body parts, often seen in people who perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. Using devices like smartphones frequently and for long periods can lead to symptoms such as pain, numbness, and tingling.
  2. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: One common neurological condition associated with hand pain, numbness, and tingling is carpal tunnel syndrome. It occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the hand, becomes compressed at the wrist. This can be exacerbated by prolonged use of devices with repetitive finger movements.
  3. Ulnar Neuropathy: Ulnar neuropathy is another neurological condition that can cause symptoms in the hand, including numbness and tingling. It's caused by pressure or irritation of the ulnar nerve, which runs along the inner side of the elbow and down to the hand.
  4. Seeking Medical Attention: It's crucial to consult a medical professional, such as a neurologist, to accurately diagnose your condition and recommend appropriate treatment. They might suggest physical therapy, changes in device usage habits, ergonomic adjustments, or even recommend medications or other interventions depending on the severity and underlying cause of your symptoms.
  5. Prevention and Management: To help alleviate or prevent these symptoms, you might consider taking breaks while using your iPhone, practicing ergonomic hand and wrist positions, and incorporating hand stretches and exercises into your routine. It's also essential to maintain a healthy overall lifestyle, including regular exercise and proper nutrition.

Remember, only a medical professional can provide accurate advice and treatment options based on your specific condition. If you're experiencing hand pain, numbness, and tingling while using your iPhone or performing other activities, it's strongly recommended to consult a neurologist or other relevant medical specialist for a thorough evaluation and guidance.

It could be the MagSafe magnets. They are very strong. No other iPhones before the 12 series and android phones use MagSafe magnets. If you tried holding an iPhone 11 series (11, pro, pro max) or older the same way and do not experience any pain in your hands, muscles or deep in your bones, then it could be the MagSafe magnets.

Um… no.

I am also experiencing this same issue with the iPhone 15 pro max. I don’t hold the phone anymore where possible. Everyday for the past two weeks my both hands are in so much pain with a burning sensation, now I don’t hold the phone as much it subsides. I’m not sure what to do, I’ve been using apple since the first iPhone. Do I go back to my iPhone 8 or can I switch off the 5g?

I have this same issue, ie., burning sensation in both hands when being held. I know that Apple state that it conforms to what’s regulatory, but to have the same people have the same issue is weird. I’ve had my 13Pro Max for 3 years this June. This burning sensation has me throwing my phone down or trying to prop my phone up on something in order to view Facebook, etc. It only takes a few seconds when this sensation begins. Now there is a radiation sensation when near my iPad or MacBook. Something evidently is causing this. My third finger is the one that gives me trouble. I remember a recent video of a man asking if anyone else was experiencing the same thing with the third finger. He went to the doctor because of the burning sensation and his doctor told him it was cancer which was caused by the phone’s radiation. The guy had to have surgery in the palm of his hand in the location of the third finger. I turned off 5G to LTE, but yet the burning continues. What’s going on? Anyone else had surgery because of this? It’s a shame because I’ve used Apple products forever.

I had the old iphone 8 for years and just traded it in, in February for the 15. Since then every time i use the new phone, my fingers and hands go numb and tingly and feel like they are burning! It feels as if something is coming through the phone. Even typing right now on the phone my hand is hurting! I'm not sure what is going on! Please help. I also notice that the phone gets extremely hot when i'm charging it.

What did your doctor say when you told them about this?

I have the same issue, I feel like I have damaged my hand and I have been trying to avoid holding my phone or even keeping it in my pocket. Its really disappointing as I was really excited to get this new iPhone 15 Pro Max but now I afraid to touch the thing. I have pain in my left hand but tingling or pins and needles in both arms allot of the time after any use of my phone.

I also have this problem with my wrists and hands hurting, aching, and tingling shortly after using my iphone 13 pro. It feels like my watch is suddenly too tight. Is anyone also experiencing this with their MacBook Air? I can't type on it anymore without having pain almost immediately. I thought it could be carpal tunnel but this forum makes me wonder, since I can type on my Dell laptop for long periods without pain.

Me too!!! I am convinced it’s my phone I cannot find any other reason. I had the ambulance out one night because my little finger and hand went completely numb. I kept telling my husband it’s my phone but he thought I was crazy! Is it dangerous??

When the ambulance took you to the ER, what did the doctor tell you?
