Need help updating iPhone 11

I have an IPhone 11 and trying to install the 16.6 update. Since my phone was close to having no storage, I deleted a lot of apps, photos, attachments, msgs

s, etc. When I go to settings I see the update info but no option to install. I’ve tried w/the automatic button on and off. Any suggestions/reasons?

Hello HopeIsInChrist,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you’re unable to update your iPhone after deleting content, so that you can update. We are happy to help.

Restarting your iPhone can resolve many concerns. Let’s by restarting your iPhone using the steps here: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

"How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later

1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.

2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.

3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."

After your iPhone has fully restarted and if it is showing that you don’t have enough storage to update, we recommend the steps here: If you need more space for an update on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

"Manage space on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

To make space on your device, try the recommendations. You can also delete or offload apps and content. You don't need to purchase more iCloud storage. What's the difference between device storage and iCloud storage?

  1. Go to Settings > General > [device] Storage.
  2. Scroll to the Recommendations section to see tips.
  3. If you still need more space after you use the recommendations, you can delete apps and content that you don't need. Scroll to the list of apps, then select any app to see how much space it uses.
  4. Tap Delete App. Some apps, such as Music, let you delete parts of their documents and data. You can redownload your purchased apps and content again later.
  5. Try to install the update again. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.

If you see Other or System Data in the graph that shows your device storage, you don't need to take action to change them. Instead, delete apps and content that you don't need, and use the recommendations.

Use your computer to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. On a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, open the Finder. On a Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier, or on a PC, open iTunes.
  2. Plug your device into your computer.
  3. Locate your device on your computer. You might need to trust your device to continue.
  4. Click Check for Update.
  5. Click Download and Update.

If an alert appears during an update, learn how to resolve an error or alert."

If you’re still unable to update your iPhone, please try the steps here:If you can't update or restore your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support

"Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again

  1. Make sure that your Mac is up to date. If you're using iTunes, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes.
  2. Connect your device to your computer with a USB cable.
  3. On a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, open the Finder. On a Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier, or on a PC, open iTunes. If iTunes is already open, close it, then open it again. Find out which macOS your Mac is using.
  4. Keep your device connected and wait until the recovery mode screen appears:
