I see the email address but not the phone number from a text I received. I want their phone number

Sending messages using iMessage can be done by either the Apple ID email or a Phone number. The choice to use which one is made by the sender and you can only view whatever one they used. Users may even send messages when they don't have a phone number using this method, since the message is sent over the internet and not through a cell phone service.
