CD not showing up

Running desktop iMac with Ventura 13. I drop a CD into external CD drive but no CD shows up. Where should it be, desktop or deeper?

Choose Computer from the Finder's Go menu. It'll also show up in the desktop or sidebar if the boxes for that are checked in the settings.

imac does not recognize cd Mac OS X 10.14.6 My Sony DRX-S70U-W CD drive worked fine. I just installed 10.14.6, and now it doesn't. In the USB Device Tree (Apple menu > About This Mac > System Report > USB), it shows up as "Vendor-Specific Device," and in Finder it shows up as "Remote Disc." When I insert a CD or DVD, the drive spins up, but the disc doesn't show up in Finder or iTunes or anywhere else. What gives?

iMac has cd stuck in it I can't get a cd out of the slot of my iMac 10.10. It is the installer disk 2. I want to donate this item, and the opening welcome page comes up first which is perfect. I'd like to get the CD out before I get involved with any setup, because I want it clean wfor the next owner. Any ideas, I have tried lots of things from Google advice, no luck
