You may need to update your Apple WatchOS also but you can also try the below:

If your iPhone is updated but is still displaying a message that it's not updated when trying to pair it with your Apple Watch, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Restart Both Devices: Sometimes a simple restart can help resolve connectivity issues. Restart both your iPhone and your Apple Watch.
  2. Check Compatibility: Ensure that your Apple Watch model is compatible with the version of iOS you have on your iPhone. Apple occasionally releases updates that might not be compatible with older Apple Watch models.
  3. Check Software Versions: Verify that your iPhone is indeed running the latest version of iOS. Go to "Settings" > "General" > "Software Update" to make sure you have the latest update installed.
  4. Check Apple Watch Software: Similarly, make sure your Apple Watch is running the latest version of watchOS. On your iPhone, open the "Watch" app, go to "General" > "Software Update" and check for updates.
  5. Reset Bluetooth and Network Settings: Resetting your network and Bluetooth settings can sometimes clear up connection issues. Go to "Settings" > "General" > "Reset" > "Reset Network Settings" and "Reset Bluetooth Settings".
  6. Unpair and Re-pair: If the issue persists, try unpairing your Apple Watch from your iPhone and then pairing them again. Remember to back up your data before unpairing.
  7. Contact Apple Support: If none of the above steps work, it might be best to reach out to Apple Support. They can provide more specific troubleshooting steps or advice based on your device's situation.
  8. Try Different Pairing Method: If you're trying to pair your Apple Watch via the automatic setup method, you could try the manual pairing method instead. This involves using your iPhone's camera to scan a pattern on your Apple Watch screen.
  9. Check for Known Issues: Sometimes, there might be known issues or bugs related to specific updates. Check online forums or Apple's support pages to see if other users are experiencing similar problems and if there are any recommended solutions.
