I want to add a column in pages footer, but the function is grey. How can I fix this?

You actually need to have at least one footer row in the inserted table. Select the row that you want to make a footer row, and two-finger tap on the blue row indicator and on the secondary menu, choose Convert to Footer Row. The footer row will reflect the columns you have specified in the table, and if you add a column to the table, the footer will automatically incorporate it.
