PROTECTING MY DOCUMENTS FOLDER WITH A PASSWORD

I am hoping that someone can help me password protect the entire DOCUMENTS FOLDER on my I-Mac desktop computer. The computer runs macOS Catalina, Version 10.15.7. I am backing up all the contents of my computer to a portable hard drive, before taking the computer to the shop to install a new internal drive. I don't want any of my files opened by the tech, so I'm trying to password protect everything in Documents. Can you guide me? Thanks in advance!

Anything short of full disk encryption is a waste of time. Either encrypt the entire disk, or don't bother.

the way these multi-user computers work is when you enter the normal password you have access to everything the user has access to so adding more passwords is not really what they aimed to do

if the repair shop for some reason needs to login into macOS with your user password then why not just make another user they can use which does not have access to your secret directory?

otherwise maybe
