A few days ago I heard the noise inside my laptop when I moved it, the noise of a loose piece (I thought it was maybe a screw), but when I opened it, I found this. Any idea what this is and if it's something I should worry about? I included an image next to a pen just so you can see its size. This is a MacBook Pro Mid 2012

It appears to be part of one of the the four plastic feet on the Mac's bottom case. They break fairly commonly. Now that you opened it examine the other ones.
The external part of it may or may not become dislodged and lost. You might want to secure it with some light duty adhesive, even double-sided tape will work.

Last time I had Apple fix one, they wanted about US$10 each, installed. No volume discount for more than one.
You can also "make" one with 100% silicone caulk in dark color, if you have that on hand.
I just checked and it is indeed that.
