Action required for your order email

Hi everyone, I just placed an order on apple education for a new macbook pro with my AMEX card. I got an email early in the morning saying that there was a problem with my payment and that they will continue to process my payment until the scheduled delivery dates.

I went to my order status to see the issue but I am unable to change my payment method. When I check my bank transactions it says the amount I paid for my macbook has been deducted but its under 'pending'

(I read somewhere that AMEX usually takes 4 days to process payments). Does this mean that the issue has been resolved? Will apple send me another email saying its been resolved?

Thanks.

MacBook Pro (2017 – 2020)

Troubleshooting a Pending Order:

What exactly did you purchase? If it is a pending purchase, then that mean payments will not be deducted until it is shipped.

Inform the Apple Rep of what is going on here. They’ll see this from their side of the call and will run you through the fix. Apple would likely see thing in your PurchaseHistory. The restaurant model will help you ubderstand this process. They generate a bill, but maybe there will be add-ons. You give them your card. They put through an approximate charge.

At this point, they know your card is good for payment, and your bank sets aside the charge as 'pending'.

Then they bring the charge slip back to you for your approval. You change the amount slightly, by adding a tip. either then or late that night of tomorrow, they put through the final amount.

The same for anything else you purchase. it will be pending for a while (how long varies widely) and after the merchant confirms, it will become a permanent charge.

Re: AMEX (non-revolving) card "a CHARGE card, not a credit card"

If you do not routinely charge amounts this large on an AMEX (non-revolving) card, they may be contacting you within a few days. If the charge is really large, they may ask to see money in your regular bank account to cover the amount. or they may ask you to convert some or all to a revolving credit arrangement with monthly payments at interest.

If you have an AMEX Credit card, ignore the description just above.

If Apple did not explicitly tell you there is a problem with your payment, you are worrying about NOTHING.

As your Apple order proceeds through the build process in the factory, it is ALWAYS "Pending". It ONLY changes to 'preparing to ship' when put in a box, and 'shipped' when the bill of lading is generated , right before it is put on a pallet and sent to the freight-forwarder.

In the email I received, it said: There is a problem with your payment. To avoid a delay in receiving your items please update your payment method in the order status.

But I am unable to. Also, there should have been a notice in the order page saying "Action required" but there isn't. Does this mean it has been resolved and the amount being charged is just on hold?

Call the agents at the Apple online store for assistance. They are handling all non-technical customer service issues these days. in the US, that's here:
