Wifi and Bluetooth not working after 16.6 update

After my phone updated to IOS 16.6 one night my wifi antenna started going bazerk. I kept getting network unstable messages after a while I noticed it stopped. Next day I noticed it wasn’t connecting to Wi-Fi at all. I went into settings and the slider to turn it on is gray and it doesn’t let me slide it on. Went to Bluetooth and it was is search mode. When I bring down controls sliding in the right corner. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antenna have a line through them( not sure if Thats how it always was) I click to turn them on and they turn blue for a min then go back to gray. Please help and I did a full factory reset to try and fix the problem and now I can’t do a iCloud back up. I can’t see my home cameras and can’t use Bluetooth in my car making it unsafe to drive. Any help is greatly appreciated 🙏🏻.

I contacted Apple support today, I did a diagnostic test with them on the phone, they told me my WiFi and Bluetooth modules are bad and need to be replaced. That person told me to go to Apple Store and they could fix it, she failed to tell me it would cost 500.00 to do so. :(

Since I have insurance thru my phone company I have to get a replacement phone that way, it’s only costing 150.00 for a replacement phone from AT&T.. better than the $500.00 for failed hardware.

the lady at the store told me no many people having this issue, but surprisingly I’ve found quite a few posts about this issue, so obviously, there are.

This issue is not related to any of the iOS updates. If it were, millions of other iPhones would have been affected as well.

Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Turn off your iPhone, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

  1. Restart the device. That's it.
  2. Still not solved --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Reset Network Settings: Only network settings are removed.

  • When you reset network settings, previously used networks and VPN settings that weren’t installed by a configuration profile or mobile device management (MDM) are removed. Wi-Fi is turned off and then back on, disconnecting you from any network you’re on. The Wi-Fi and Ask to Join Networks settings remain turned on.
  • To remove VPN settings installed by a configuration profile, go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management, select the configuration profile, then tap Remove Profile. This also removes other settings and accounts provided by the profile. See Install or remove configuration profiles on iPhone in this guide.
  • To remove network settings installed by MDM, go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management, select the management, then tap Remove Management. This also removes other settings and certificates provided by MDM. See “Mobile device management (MDM)” in the iOS Deployment Reference.
  • Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

If the above fails...

Reset All Settings: All settings—including network settings, the keyboard dictionary, the Home screen layout, location settings, privacy settings, and Apple Pay cards—are removed or reset to their defaults. No data or media are deleted.

  1. Reset All Settings: Return iPhone settings to their defaults - Apple Support:- Return iPhone settings to their defaults
  2. You can return settings to their defaults without erasing your content.
  3. If you want to save your settings, back up your iPhone before returning them to their defaults. For example, if you’re trying to solve a problem but returning settings to their defaults doesn’t help, you might want to restore your previous settings from a backup.

If nothing above works probably it could be your iPhone may have a WiFi radio or antenna problem. In that case, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact Apple Support and get the hardware tested and if needed repaired/replaced.

If Wi-Fi is Greyed-Out:

Try The Following in the Order Provided:

A. Restarting the iPhone:

If any changes were made (i.e. Installed Apps), then Settings (i.e Wf-Fi), may have become manipulated technically. So, try restarting the iPhone:

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: Shut Down
  4. Slide: Your Finger to the Right

B. Disable Cellular:

Try disabling Cellular, and using Wi-Fi instead, seeing if that makes all the difference.

C. Try manually restarting your iPhone:

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Select: General
  3. Scroll to: the Very Bottom
  4. Select: Shut Down
  5. Slide Finger: to the Right
  6. Wait: 30 Seconds
  7. Power One: the iPhone
  8. Try this Once More

D. Reset All Network Settings to Default:

Example of items that will be reset: (Wi-Fi Passwords, VPN Connections, etc)

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: Reset
  4. Tap: Reset Network Settings.
  5. Enter: [Your Passcode]

As a Last Resort:

E. Restore form a Backup:

Have a backup of your iPhone? If you are not concerned with losing data, then restore your iPhone from a backup that was made when Wi-Fi was working. Prior to restoring, backup your iPhone, incase anything goes wrong with the restoration.

Updating iOS on your iPhone should typically not alter the fundamental functionality of the device. It's possible that there were underlying issues before this update, which you might not have been aware of previously or might not have noticed.

In general, iOS updates are designed to enhance the user experience, improve security, and fix bugs, rather than introducing major disruptions to core features. The reported issue of the screen flickering and displaying a white screen after an update is likely caused by factors that are not explicitly mentioned in your post.

iOS updates primarily focus on improving system performance, introducing new features, fixing bugs, and enhancing security. They are designed to preserve your personal data, settings, and information intact.

During an iOS update, your device's operating system is upgraded, but your personal data, such as contacts, photos, messages, and other information, should remain unchanged. However, it's always a good practice to perform a backup of your device before any major update to ensure that your data is safely stored.

It's important to note that while an iOS update itself should not alter personal details, it's possible that certain features or settings may be adjusted or improved with the update. In such cases, you may need to review and adjust specific settings to match your preferences after the update.

Always make sure to read and understand the update details provided by Apple before proceeding with an iOS update, and follow best practices such as backing up your device to minimize any potential risks or complications.

If the issues you mentioned are indeed caused by iOS, it's likely that numerous users who have upgraded to iOS 16.6 are experiencing similar problems. However, in order for the community on this forum to provide helpful responses, it would be beneficial for you to specify the nature of the issue you are encountering. Without this information, it may be difficult for others to address your concern effectively.

With the limited information that you have provided, It is hard to even guess the problems faced by you.

Well it doesn’t surprise me that they tell you not many people have this issue. If they admitted to it, they open themselves up to another lawsuit. They are trained to handle each interaction in a specific manner.

The truth is that one simple google search will show you how many people have this problem and it’s not a small amount. When people describe the problem, everyone agrees that’s it how works to a tee. This is not circumstantial or a random occurrence as it happened to most of us around the same time too.

I'm a fan of apple. I’ve had exclusively iPhones since the iPhone 3. I have multiple iPads, MacBooks, watches, AirPods, etc in my house. I do not have any competitors products. I have stayed loyal to apple because typically their products work great, until now.

I got so fed up after dealing with this for 5+ months that I finally gave in and did exactly what apple wanted me to do and bought a new phone. This will be the last chance I give them. These phones are not cheap, if they break through no fault of our own but rather the fault of the company that sold them to us, that is a massive problem.
