My location is still showing up on find my friends even when I turn off the share my location setting.

I have people that I share my location with, but sometimes I turn off the "share my location" option for the location service settings.. I'm under the impression that this would prevent anyone from seeing my location when this is toggled off.. however it continues to show my live location even when toggled off. How do I prevent this?? Ive disabled find my iphone also, but it still shows my live location. The only way I've been able to stop it from sharing my live location is turn off ALL location services, which makes a lot of apps on my phone unusable ( like maps) .

Stop sharing your location using Find My

You can stop sharing your location with a particular person by choosing that person in the People tab, then scrolling down and choosing Stop Sharing My Location. Or you can stop sharing with everyone by turning off Share My Location in the Me tab.

Hi jackat19,

Once you turn off the option to share your location, that contact should have no way to view your location. If you have updated to the most recent software version and restarted your iPhone, it would be best to contact Apple Support to look into this further.

no I didn't unfortunately...the only thing that worked was getting a completely new phone.

Thank you for answering! I don't want to remove them completely, I just want to temporarily stop sharing my location. So I turn off the the Share My Location tab...but it STILL intermittently shows my location to them when turned off.

On their end... when they open find my friends app, and it shows the list of people they are following.. under my name is says " location not available".. but if they click on my specific name and leave it open for about 10 seconds it shows them my live location.

The only way I've been able to stop it from happening is turning off ALL location services which i don't want to do... and even then sometimes it STILL happens.

This also happened to me. In FMF, the option was turned off for Share Location, but people could still see my location!

I know I did it right, and it usually works, but it didn’t this time.

Does that mean on your new phone, when you turn off the "share my location" option for the location service settings, ur new phone now prevents anyone from seeing ur location when it’s toggled off?

2nd Q: Does keeping ur name open for about 10 seconds still show others ur live location?
