Cannot open iPhone taken pictures from Windows Photos

Recently, I got an error " "Photos cant open this file because the format is unsupported or the file is corrupted" when opening iPhone taken pictures from Windows File Explorer. It worked perfectly fine a few months ago. Anyone has the same experience?

perhaps you're now shooting in HEIC mode which is apple's take on JPG compression. You can check the settings like this on your phone :

-Open Settings

-Scroll to Camera

-Select 'Formats'

-Choose 'Most Compatible'

I have just changed my iPhone Camera settings from 'High Efficiency' to 'Most Compatible' and took a picture. But got the same error 'Sorry Photos can't open the file because the format is currently unsupported or the file is corrupted.

I would like to provide some information:

iPhone 13 iOS 16.6

Windows 11 Photos app

It is a new PC I bought in this May. There is no problem in viewing pictures of iPhone from my PC in this Jul. I wonder if it is a new version of MS Photos app as MS Windows will keep updating apps in my PC.
