how do i get a wired keyboard to connect

my wired keyboard use to work whenever plugged in but now it wont work at all.all ports work with other inputs and wired keyboard works with other computers but not with my mac book air and theres no settings for it or anything online.

The USB port may have failed however this is pretty unusual. Please do the following:

Okay then…. selahtm ( or meleeflies) do you have an Intel MacBook Air or an m1/m2 /apple silicon one?

if it’s the first one, try a reset smc/pmu… followed by 3-4 pram zaps… on startup… for this , any wired usb keyboard will do… so buy/borrow a known good “cheapie “ keyboard… and use that… oh!!! You’re talking about an external keyboard that you plug into your MacBook Air… then for now use the keyboard built in to your MacBook Air… unless that’s trashed/not working… here’s link for reset smc/omu, etc… https://www.macworld.com/article/224955/how-to-reset-a-macs-nvram-pram-and-smc.html#:~:text=Intel%20Macs&text=Press%20the%20power%20button%2C%20and,Mac%20to%20continue%20starting%20normally.
