Carrier SIM lock problem

My phone shows SIM Lock in the carrier information even with no SIM inserted. I spoke with an Xfinity support person who says my phone is unlocked but nothing has changed. How can I get Xfinity to be more responsive to my request?

iPhone 6s, iOS 14

I'm afraid there is little we can do to help you. We're just users and Apple itself has nothing to do with carrier unlocks. Only the carrier a phone is locked to can unlock it. You'll need to elevate this higher on the Xfinity side.

It seems like carrier non release of Sim card is two people talking with their backs to each other. Saying a problem doesn’t exist doesn’t change its existence.

So I have this unlocking SIM card problem with a Billion dollar company called Verizon. They gave up unlocking this originally owned and bought from Verizon Iphone 11 Pro and are sending me to Apple support.

I will report back directly what Apple does. It is always the “oh I didn’t know that trips us up”

Carriers don’t build phones they just send signals to them.

Only carriers lock phones and only carriers can unlock phones. It's always been that way and it won't change.

Apple did not lock the phone. They can't, because Apple is not a carrier.

Apple cannot unlock the phone for the same reason.

Blame Apple if you want, but the bottom line is that the phone will remain locked until the carrier unlocks it. Apple is not involved with this.

Not sure how other users who answer Apple related technical questions can help with this one. Only the carrier can unlock the phone and Apple is not a carrier. Apple is not involved in either locking or unlocking a phone.

The support person at Xfinity is obviously not telling you the truth. All that you can likely do at this point is ask to speak to a manager and patiently explain things all over again.

It might help if Xfinity has a store location where you can take the phone and demonstrate that the phone is locked, even though you have been told that it is not.

When the phone is unlocked, everyone will be able to see this on the phone.

Good luck.

I am dealing with the same issue. I have switched carriers because they continued to inacurately bill me for 5 months saying they will resolve the issue then turn my phone off for not paying the charges they were inaccurately billing for. Then they would turn it back on and back off and back on untill I paid off my device and advised I wanted to switch carriers. They gave me the balance on the device and I paid it off. now for days have been telling me its unlocked from some reps. Other reps advised "Its simple Pay your bill and we'll unlock your phone"(even after advising those charges are escalated and being looked over but it not having anything to do with my paid off device). Long story short I have no service at all now because I ported my number over believing the rep that I paid my phone off with and have Live Chatted to them but they just keep saying its unlocked now regrdless of what it shows on my end and theres nobody that can help. I did email the FCC a complaint so I guess ill wait 30 days without a phone until they can be told by someone else to unlock my phone.
