If I buy/ upgrade my Phone at an apple store and use Apple Card Monthly Installments, will I be able to use my iPhone in my Country (Ethiopia)? or will it be locked?
It won’t be locked to any carrier, but US iPhones do not have a physical sim card slot and require carriers that support eSims. There don’t appear to be any eSim supporting carriers in Ethiopia. You won’t be able to use in Ethiopia with a physical sim card.

Purchase a T-Mobile iPhone directly from Apple on ACMI. The activation screen is bypassed by pressing continue button 3 times. After 3rd continue you should get a screen to activate later.
Now contact Metro and activate the eSIM on their network. Make sure Metro can activate eSIMs. Metro will need your IMEI. Settings > General > About > Scroll down.
Sorry, it’s in the T&C of the various carriers. Notice all three require a 2 year contract, same as ACMI.
True, plans may be expensive, bur that is not really related to the ACMI option.
If he already has a Plan, he can just use that one instead of activating a new one.
What other option is provided? Can you take a screen shot? The T-Mobile workaround might be an option if I can see what is going on.
Is there a screen before that about activation that you can screenshot? If not, it’s different than the T-Mobile work around.
That’s the work around that I was referring to. The T-Mobile screen is different, but I had a feeling it would work.
In Apple website, after selecting T-Mobile as the carrier. Immediate screen asks for Mobile number and pin, if I select at&t it asks for the same but gives an extra option to create a new account. How to proceed with this step ?
Enter random numbers and after the third try you get option to try later and bypass that screen. Complete transaction and activate iPhone with carrier that supports eSIM.
