FYI, although Apple certainly has some non-trivial involvement in fielding ApplePay …

… the true “Heavy Lifting” needed to roll it out in ANY locale is performed by the card issuers in-concert w/ the payment networks (e.g. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, etc.) AND the local banking / credit regulatory authorities.

You might gain more traction by requesting the service from ALL of your card issuers.

Countries ARE routinely being added to the ApplePay list; all we can say is keep watching.

Google Pay/Wallet is now available in Dominican Republic, starting November 2023. I hope Apple does something about this. I’d be nice to at least use the Wallet and our own cards to pay with NFC devices :) …

This is good to know. Since there’s Google Wallet, Apple Pay might be in the works. All the banks that are participating with Google at the moment really did advertise this new “feature”. Let’s hope for the best!

I no longer have my iPhone and i would like to go back, but been using Google wallet for a while and its been live saving most of the time, now without apple pay this is becoming a deal braker for me, probably will not go back until then. Also stopped paying icloud, bc there's no reason now.

… I’d still personally consider the GooglePay roll-out to indeed be “positive news.”
