Mail Side Preview Pane Width Resets

Desired Behaviour:

Dragging the Mail side preview pane to be sth like a fifth of the screen to the right. Expecting it to stay that way.

Observed Behaviour:

With no apparent reason sometimes after switching away from and back to the Mail app, the side preview pane resets its width to something like a third of the screen, which also messes up the width of the message list columns.

Question:

Any idea what's going on and/or how to fix this?

MacBook Air, macOS 13.5

Thanks for checking and the follow-up question.

I can confirm that I did not accidentally resize it myself.

However, I did just figure out, that it happens when writing new Email in split-view mode. See screenshots in my other reply.

I can switch away from Mail to Safari and back again to Mail and the Side Preview Pane remains unchanged.

Can repeat this on 3 different Apple Computers all running Ventura 13.5.1

Perhaps the user mistakenly ( can happen ) has grabbed the Vertical Bar in below image and Resized the Configuration ?

Addendum/Correction:

Happens, e.g., when writing a new Email (actually not when switching forth and back between apps, sry for the mistake in the original post).
