No. The Wi-Fi is only good for a short distance, and typically functions only within your home space. However, it is possible to connect to other available Wi-FIs when traveling but doing so opens you up to having your data intercepted.

WiFi range is affected by many factors but typically the range is:
802.11a has a 115-ft range indoors and 390-ft range outdoors
802.11b has a 115-ft range indoors and 460-ft range outdoors
802.11g has a 125-ft range indoors and 460-ft range outdoors

You can stop at coffee shops, libraries, and other locations that offer WiFi access and connect to their WiFi service.
Good point. But keep in mind that if you use this method you will be subject to incurring possible charges on your wireless service for accessing its network. I would check into how much is allowed and what an overage will cost.
