Turn off voicemail notifications

Hello, how do I turn off the voicemail notifications? I am talking specifically about the voicemail popup on the screen and the vibration noise it makes.

I have autism and misophonia, and when I am in a phonecall that is interrupted by this voicemail notification, I get very angry and upset. I just hung up on my girlfriend because it happened two times. I have no more energy for talking on the phone due to this.

Anyway, there appears to be no setting in the iphone to turn it off. Even if I turn off all notifications, I think it still happens.

Go to Settings/Sound & Haptics, tap on New Voicemail, and tap None.

Turing Off Voicemail Notifications:

Disabling all notifications rids of it. So, if you have no need for notifications, then do it that way.

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: Notifications
  3. Tap: Home (not “HomeKit”)
  4. Tap: Allow Notifications (so that it becomes greyed-out)***

After speaking with tech support at my phone service provider we discovered the real problem. The most recent update allows your phone to retain a copy of your recent voicemails in transcript and audio form even after you delete them from your voicemail. This is the reason you’re still seeing a notification for voicemails after erasing or listening to them. To resolve this go to your voicemail. At the top of the screen you’ll see a button for your voicemail and below it will be a list of people who have called and left messages. (If you tap on one of them you’ll see a transcript of the message and the recorded message will play.) There is an “edit” button at the top of the screen. Tap it and select the voicemails you want to delete then tap “delete” at the bottom of the page. The message(s) will disappear. If you follow these steps the notification icon should disappear. However, the message(s) have not been completely deleted. If you press on the line that reads “deleted messages” it will show you the message(s) you just deleted which have now been archived. You can permanently delete them by following the same process as in the first screen. To prevent this from happening again go to settings- phone - live voicemail - OFF.
