Repeated “New Device Connected” notifications, even though no new devices show up.

My girlfriend has received 2 notifications saying something along the lines of “New Device Connected. An Apple Watch now has access to your iMessages” with the option to go to settings or just click ok. It looks like a legitimate Apple notification, but the exact wording might be different since I did not see them myself.

Anyway, the first time it happened, we checked her Apple Watch, which was connected to the phone, and then the devices paired with her AppleID. We found a device we did not know, so we deleted it, and went through the process of changing her Apple ID password and logout from all websites/apps that were connected to her AppleID. Everything seemed fine at this point.

However, an hour or so after changing her password, she got the same notification again. We checked the devices list, and nothing seems out of place. It’s just her IPhone 14 pro max, and her Apple Watch (series 4), which have been paired throughout this whole ordeal. So we are wondering if this is some sort of security breach, or if it’s just a misconnection between her phone and her watch that is causing this notification to come in multiple times? Any insight is appreciated.
