Apple watch bug regarding data privacy - getting notifications for device I no longer own

I bought an apple watch and returned it a month ago. I followed the procedure to wipe and remove the device before returning. The device no longer appears in my appleid device list nor does it appear on my iPhone or iCloud.

Recently I've noticed that my iPhone is getting notifications "your watch is fully charged". When I look at my health app I see that I am still getting daily data for this watch including the number of steps taken, stairs climbed, walking distance,...

Hi Mike32768,

Thanks for posting. As we understand it, you returned an Apple Watch but you're still sometimes seeing notifications and data associated with an Apple Watch, correct?

To double-check, you've only ever used this one Apple Watch that was returned? When you mentioned following a procedure before returning it, was it the process outlined in this link? We want to double-check to ensure all steps have been covered: What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Apple Watch, or buy one from someone else - Apple Support

If you've verified that was the process you followed and you see the same results, use this link to reach us directly for further assistance: Get Support

Correct. This was the only Apple watch ever owned. Yes that procedure was followed.

I contacted apple support and unfortunately the associate felt that this behaviour was by design and wanted me to jump hoops by un-installing and re-installing the apple watch app on my iphone.

FYI I returned the apple watch because I felt it was over promised, over priced and under delivered. I had already wasted an hour describing the issue to the support person and do not have any interest in investing any more of my time un-installing and re-installing an app I never plan to use again in the future.

The fact is that I am still getting data and notifications sent to my iPhone from a wiped and returned device. No I am not looking at my old saved data and old notifications.
